Indications / ContradictionsUltra-veneers are indicated for patients who request to enhance esthetics of their teeth without any need for shots, drills or pain. No-preparation veneers are indicated for patients who have teeth that are lingually inclined or have smaller than normal sized teeth (peg laterals). It can also be used for bonded full crowns, three-quarter crowns and veneers. Technical NotesPatients with multifunctional occlusion such as bruxers or clenchers should be warned that they stand an increased chance of fracture even if the veneers do not involve the incisal edge. Patients and dentists must realize that adding additional facial dimension to unprepared teeth (even as little as 0.3 mm) can yield limited esthetic results that can be improved upon by traditional veneer preparation technique. PreparationsFor optimum esthetics, provide the current shade of the existing tooth, preparation or stump shade along with the final desired shade of the restorations. Slight preparation of the protruding areas with a disc or fine diamond will facilitate in allowing the ideal facial alignment. Minimum Prep - 0.3 mm reduction.
